Line 901
(Metro Orange Line)
Four options are under consideration for operating service on the extension of the Metro Orange Line directly to the east of Canoga Ave.; on these maps, green lines are used to show trip routing to/from Chatsworth Station and blue lines are used to show routing to/from Warner Center. ("HDW" is an abbreviation for "headway", the service frequency during weekday peak hours.) Staff ranked each option in terms of passenger convenience (black "+" signs on each concept map) and operating cost (black "$" signs).
Option 1 would simply branch service at Canoga Station, with half the trips operating to/from Warner Center and the other half operating to/from Chatsworth Station.

Option 2 would have all trips operate between North Hollywood Station and Warner Center, with half of the trips also operating to/from Chatsworth before continuing to Warner Center.

Option 3 would alternate trips, the same as Option 1, and add a shuttle (purple line) between Warner Center and Chatsworth.

By the time of the public hearing, a variation (Option 3-B) had been added to make the shuttle operate only during the morning and afternoon weekday peak hours, coordinated around Metrolink's schedule at Chatsworth Station.
Option 4 would have all trips operate between North Hollywood Station and Warner Center, with half of the westbound trips extended to/from Chatsworth, similar to the Option 3 shuttle.

The Service Council approved Option 3-B, with late night service configured to serve both Warner Center and Chatsworth on all trips. Service started on the extension June 30, 2012.
