Line 183 (Sherman Oaks - Magnolia Blvd. - Burbank - Glendale)
Proposed to be replaced with an extension of Line 234 between Sherman Oaks and Burbank, with service east of Western Ave. to be replaced with Glendale Beeline and remaining route between Burbank and Glendale cancelled or replaced by Burbank Local Transit service. Not completely implemented: Glendale Beeline Route 7 replaced Line 183 between Concord St. and Alameda Ave. and Line 183 was realigned via Alameda Ave. - San Fernando Rd. - Doran St. (implemented April 10, 2000).
- Following the January 14, 1995 public hearing, a new Line 675 shuttle was proposed to operate the portion of the Line 183 route between downtown Burbank and the Glendale Galleria. Never implemented and was not referenced in the April, 1997 status report to the MTA Board.
- The Central/East/Northeast Bus Restructuring Study, released in 1998, contained a recommendation that Line 183 be extended along the route of Line 85 to Highland Park. Never formally proposed for implementation.
- Elimination of the route between Burbank and Glendale was proposed in 2005 as part of Metro Orange Line restructuring but withdrawn by staff after the public hearing. Weekend service between Burbank and Glendale was cancelled June 24, 2007 as part of Metro Connections; the proposal to cancel the same segment on weekdays in the June, 2008 service change program was again withdrawn by staff after the public hearing.
- Line 183 service between Burbank and Sherman Oaks was proposed to be replaced by a new "loop" line also incorporating the Burbank-to-Sherman Oaks portion of Line 96 as part of Metro Connections.
- Two proposals were under consideration for the June, 2011 service change program to replace all or part of Line 183. Both were withdrawn by staff after the public hearing.
